Pocket PiGRRL Pack Build your own Pi Game Emulator! (CASE + PI NOT INCLUDED)
Build your own Pocket PiGRRL — a DIY handheld Raspberry Pi Model A+ running RetroPie/EmulationStation for MAME, NES, Atari 2600 and more. Includes the core parts (minus the case), but requires 3D printing, soldering and software setup.
For anyone who thought their Game Boy days were long gone, this pack gives you a fun way to bring handheld retro gaming back to life. The Pocket PiGRRL Pack includes the core parts you need to build your own DIY GameGRRL — a portable Raspberry Pi running classic emulators such as MAME, NES, Atari 2600, and more through RetroPie/EmulationStation.
This project is based around a Raspberry Pi Model A+ and a PiTFT display. It’s a full DIY build, so you’ll need to assemble everything yourself and install the software before you can start playing, but the included learn guide walks you through the process step by step.
Please note, this isn’t a professional finished product — it’s a hands-on kit that’s great fun to build, but emulation, video, and audio performance may vary.
The pack includes almost everything required except the case. You’ll need to 3D print your own enclosure, and the guide includes details to help you (or a friend) print one. You’ll also need to solder the parts together, and have basic tools and small extras such as screws or blue tack. It’s worth reading through the tutorial first so you know exactly what’s needed to complete the build.
Please note that the case and PI are not included. Furthermore, the Powerboost may have an off-white or black JST connector.
