SupTronics X15-POE1 for X1500/X1501
The SupTronics X15-POE1 is a dedicated Power over Ethernet add-on board designed to work with the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (CM5) when paired with the X1500 or X1501 IO Boards. Built to IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at standards, the board receives power directly from a compatible PoE network switch, delivering up to 25W through a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable.
The board uses a dual-output design to address the power needs of different system components. It provides 5V power to the CM5 itself via the 40-pin GPIO header, while simultaneously offering a separate 12V output through a dedicated 2-pin XH2.54 connector. This approach allows you to power auxiliary equipment such as cooling fans, displays, or motors without requiring a separate external power supply. The architecture reduces cable clutter and simplifies installation by consolidating both network and power delivery into one connection.
The X15-POE1 accepts input voltages between 36V and 57V DC, with Class 4 device classification. The 5V rail can deliver up to 5A (25W maximum), while the 12V rail provides 2.1A at its maximum rating of 25W. Combined output is limited to a total of 25W, which aligns with the PoE standard power budget. Both outputs use independently regulated channels, so fluctuations on one rail do not affect the other.
Power conversion relies on a fully isolated switched-mode power supply topology, which ensures efficient energy delivery while maintaining galvanic isolation between input and output stages. This design protects connected equipment from ground loops and voltage transients that might occur on the PoE network line.
Installation involves connecting the board to your PoE switch and the CM5 IO Board. Once powered, the dual outputs are immediately available for the Compute Module and peripheral devices, eliminating the need to manage separate power adapters or battery packs in space-constrained applications.
Please note: Compute Module 5 is not included.
